Privacy
Spritefolk is made by Sumit Bedi, an independent developer in India ("we"). This page explains what data the Spritefolk Mac app and spritefolk.com handle. The short version: very little, and what your characters read stays on your Mac.
The Mac app
- The app has no analytics and no tracking. You don't need an account to use Batti.
- Your settings, notes, timers and chosen character are stored only on your Mac.
- Characters that read information on your Mac (for example, Pump's AI usage or Dhiru's running apps) read it locally and never send it anywhere.
- The app contacts spritefolk.com for three things only: to check once a day for an update, to fetch a small settings file (prices and notices), and, once you buy, to check your licence. These requests carry your app version and, for the licence, the payment reference from your purchase (or your sign-in token, if you restored a purchase by signing in). Nothing a character reads is included.
- The app does not use your microphone, camera, location, contacts or files unless a character clearly asks for it first.
Accounts
You don't need an account to buy. A purchase is tied to the email you pay with. Signing in is only for Restore purchases on another Mac; it is handled by Supabase, using Google or a one-time email link. We store your email and what you bought, nothing else. Ask us any time and we will delete it.
The website
- spritefolk.com counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies, and PostHog, configured to keep nothing on your device. We use them to see which pages help people, not to follow you around the web. There is no advertising.
- We count downloads, and how many apps check for an update each day, without storing IP addresses.
- Like every website, our host (Cloudflare) processes basic request data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and stop abuse.
- Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when it delivers them.
Feedback
If you send feedback from the app, we keep your message, which character it was about, your app and macOS version, and the email address if you add one so we can reply. Nothing else from your Mac is attached.
If you join the list or email hello@spritefolk.com, we use your address only to reply and to tell you when new characters arrive. Every email has a way to stop them. We never sell or share it. Ask us any time and we will delete it.
Purchases
Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, acting as merchant of record. They process your payment details under their own privacy policy; we receive only what we need to unlock your characters (your email, what you bought and the payment reference).
