What's running on port 5173 on Mac, and how to stop it

Usually: Vite's dev server (React, Vue, Svelte and SvelteKit projects) runs here.

See what's on port 5173

Open Terminal and run:

lsof -nP -iTCP:5173 -sTCP:LISTEN

The first column is the app, the second its PID (process ID).

Stop it

kill <PID>

If it's still listed a few seconds later, use kill -9 <PID>. Or stop whatever is on 5173 in one go:

kill $(lsof -t -iTCP:5173 -sTCP:LISTEN)

Vite moves to 5174, 5175 and up when 5173 is busy, so a pile-up of old Vite servers is common.
